The Uwe Johnson Association

The Uwe Johnson Association is a non-profit society located in Rostock, Germany. It seeks to promote the study of Uwe Johnson’s life and oeuvre, to preserve and deepen the understanding of his novels and writings and to show the importance of Johnson’s literary heritage in cultural life. This is achieved by organising (academic) research events and publications as well as issuing the Uwe Johnson Yearbook. One of the current projects of the Uwe Johnson Association is a complete Uwe Johnson edition. Having established good co-operative relations with the University of Rostock, the Literaturhaus Rostock and the Heinrich Böll Foundation, the Uwe Johnson Association additionally aims to enrich literary life in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania and Rostock by organising a wide range of events.
